The department of Physics was established in 1965 for Pre degree classes. Prof. M Balachandran was first HOD of the department. In 1969 it was upgraded as a subsidiary department. The main course was introduced in the year 1995 with Mathematics and Computer science as subsidiary subjects . In 2005, Jisha O M got second rank in Calicut university degree examination. As far now twenty batches of students had completed the course and most of them are well placed and some are undergoing higher studies.

The department started B.Sc Physics main course in 1995 with mathematics and Computer science as subsidiary substances. There are four permanent faculty in the department. We have a well equipped laboratory with a mechanic to maintain the apparatus. There are 117 students this year in the department.
