The Department of English came into being with the inception of the college in 1965. It had been giving instruction in part I English, the compulsory component of the University syllabi for Pre- Degree and Under Graduate courses. Being the first language, English is taught to all the students of various disciplines. Our graduation programme, Functional English is a much sought after job-oriented course, which commenced in 1998. Our college is the first one to start this course in Malappuram district- much to the benefit of the students. We mould the students to tackle the intricacies of the language with utmost ease and help them to join for various job-oriented P.G. courses. The department was sanctioned with an M.A.in English Language and Literature programme in 2013. The department has been catering to the student community in a big way.
