National service scheme (NSS)

National Service Scheme provides opportunities for involvement of students in community work. The college has two units of National Service Scheme, with one hundred volunteers each.

Aim

Development of the personality of students through community services.

Objectives

  1. To work with and among the common people.
  2. To enhance creative and constructive social action.
  3. To enable students to understand the basic needs of the community.
  4. To gain skills in programme development.
  5. To enable them to get self employment.
  6. To develop leadership qualities.
  7. To bridge the gulf between the educated and the uneducated masses.
  8. To promote among the students the will to serve the weaker sections of the society.

Enrollment to N.S.S is optional to all students of degree classes.  An N.S.S volunteer who completes 240 hours of regular social service and attend one annual training camp will be issued a certificate by the University. This certificate holder will get incentives and bonus marks for getting admission to higher studies
